Peppa Pig is great way for adults and children to start learning French. It is basic enough to enable you to pick up a few words and phrases, whist being immersed in the language. There are also subtitles which can help beginner to intermediate learners to enhance their skills by gaining a clearer definition of what they are hearing and reading. It is always better to have the subtitles and audio in the target language that one is learning, for maximum benefit.

The story titles and contexts are fabulous for learning the target language naturally. In the end you will have improved your reading and listening skills immensely.

It would be a great idea to challenge yourself by asking yourself the following questions each time you watch a video:

1. What is the outline of the story.
2. In your opinion what kind of emotions are portrayed by the characters. What is the evidence of this.
3. What topic specific vocabulary is used? Give 5-10 examples.
4. How many new phrases were you able to identify.
5. Which new vocabulary did you learn by associating the pictures with the words, actions and voice tones used.

It is usually better to watch a short video of 5 minutes everyday for such exercises as you will not feel too overwhelmed. remember repetition is key, so you can rewind or rewatch a certain video as much as possible until you feel that you have grasped something from it. And please note that you must not be too hard on yourself, you are not expected to know or understand everything. After all you are indeed a learner!
