Dairy Free Golden milk

As the winter is approaching you may need to arm yourself against colds and flu and this is the perfect and most natural way to do it!

Ginger and turmeric are very well known for their natural health properties. They are both very warming, so they are great for the winter and cold weather. Aside from that when they are mixed together with a few other small ingredients, they create the most delicious hot drink known as golden milk.

Golden milk is an excellent Indian home remedy for fighting colds and flu if you prefer an alternative remedy; plus it is also good as an immune system builder, it aids healthy digestion, reduces inflammation, increases your metabolism and helps to reduce period pains and alleviates stomach bloating. It’s also great for calming a dairy allergy attack by alleviating your blocked sinuses and assisting to clear the dairy out of your body.

Here is what you will need:

  • 1/2 a carton of long life or fresh coconut or almond milk.
  • 1/2 a cup of water.
  • 3 small pieces of turmeric root (peeled and grated), or 1 and a 1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric.
  • A pinch of fresh grounded black pepper.
  • A small (3 inch) piece of ginger root (peeled and grated) or 1 and a 1/2 teaspoon of ground ginger.
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon honey or an alternative sweetener.
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of coconut oil (optional)
